The Melbourne Jewish Writers Festival is the only event in Melbourne to spotlight the richness of Jewish literary culture.
For two exciting days and evenings, from 21 to 23 May, ready your mind and heart to be stimulated and provoked by a who’s who of Australian writers and a covey of international luminaries.
The more than 70 guests include a fabulous array of award-winning writers – established, young, emerging – in a rich variety of genres that this year embraces performance-based writing and poetry.
Our international authors include Jami Attenberg, author of The Middlesteins and the newly released Saint Mazie; from Israel, major talent Nir Baram; and feminist writer Elana Sztokman.
The program includes Jewish writers and non-Jewish authors who write on Jewish themes. You will hear from award-winning authors and also be introduced to some amazing new talents.
Our gala opening event As It Is Written provides a foretaste of the Festival – the literary genres represented on stage, including graphic writing by cartoonist David Blumenstein and songwriting offered by the singer Lior.
Add inspiring schools sessions to enchant young minds, plus a homage to Sholem Aleichem, the creator of the tales that became Fiddler on the Roof, and we have a mouth watering program that we shall be delighted to share with you.
